WHY TRUJILLO, HONDURAS
Trujillo, Honduras is one of the last unspoiled gems in the Caribbean. It is like Costa Rica was 20 years ago. Honduras is very inexpensive, the area around Trujillo beautiful and the people are really friendly. It is quiet, safe and you will find a nice community of expats. Many great little restaurants and bars, all the amenities from doctors to dentists and lots to keep busy with. Eco tourism, water sports and hiking. In fact Trujillo is one of the few spots in the Caribbean that has a great beach and a mountain (6,000’ or 1,828 m) with in a short walk from the beach. Of course it is also the perfect spot to do absolutely nothing. For $200 (US) per month you add a full time help who will do your chores while you are busy relaxing.
The cruise ship port, which is slated for a major upgrade, brings business for the local community. The Honduran government has marked this area for a major upgrade. And early commitments have been made by foreign investors to inject a substantial amount in to the area to help development. A proposal for a major international airport close to Trujillo is also being discussed.
For those living in Honduras healthcare is free and the quality is good.
